Just what is the
Register of Deeds?

The Register of Deeds is the official recorder and custodian of all legal papers conveying or encumbering real property within the county. It is one of six county elective offices established by the U.S. Congress in 1836. The office may not be the most spectacular of the six, but in order to accomplish its important purpose, a mass of intricate details have to fit together perfectly. In many states it is called the County Recorder, because believe me, it’s about a lot more than deeds!

Maintaining a safe, permanent and accurate system is crucial because our records can be used to prove a chain of title or property ownership. We are a service-oriented office that has enjoyed an excellent reputation and my staff and I are proud to be maintaining its high standards today.

Our relationship with businesses such as title companies, banks and attorneys who use our service daily is vital. However, I feel the average citizen that calls or comes in to our counter and every ‘regular’ who does research in our vault to be just as significant. My staff and I work hard to provide exemplary service to everyone.

My goal is to provide long-term progress without sacrificing stability and reliability. In fact, I have already been able to make improvements to the office. I implemented a new software program that protects your social security number on all publicly viewable documents, and I have many other plans for our future.

My training and experience as Register of Deeds make me the ONLY candidate who can be immediately effective for you!
